Max Winter has been with Portland Yacht Services since 2020 and serves as the Parts Department Manager, where his knack for tracking down even the rarest components sets him apart. With nine years of experience in the industry, Max has become the go-to guy for hard-to-find parts—whether it’s a specialty item buried in someone’s basement halfway across the world or just the right widget needed to keep a project moving.

Originally from Maine, Max moved away for school but, like many, found his way back. Once he settled on the coast, he “sort of fell into” the marine industry, and nearly a decade later, he’s still here, proving it was a great fit. Though he doesn’t own a boat himself, he’s perfectly happy enjoying time on the water through his friends’ boats. His favorite memory on the water dates back to canoeing the inland rivers of Maine as a kid—he still thinks canoes are the best kind of boat (as long as they don’t leak).

Max plays a vital role in the customer experience, supporting both the yard crew and direct customer service. He and his team keep the yard fueled with the parts and tools they need and are always ready to help customers on the front lines. He offers a bit of tongue-in-cheek advice to boaters: “If you find yourself tempted to ask the yard to borrow a tool, you should probably just let us take care of it.” Outside of work, Max enjoys lounging around and appreciates the positivity and teamwork that define the culture at the yard. For him, the best part of the job is that there’s always something new to learn—either from the work or the people around him.
