Dan Brackett

Inboard & Systems Technician

Joined the Crew in 2012

Dan Brackett has been an essential part of the team since 2012, working as an Inboard Technician with 20 years of experience. Specializing in old boats, Dan’s expertise comes from hands-on learning—what he calls the "School of Hard Knocks." His inspiration for working in the boating industry is simple yet deeply rooted in his surroundings: the beauty of the Maine coast. Whether working on inboard engines or out on the water, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to his craft.

A lifelong boater, Dan enjoys both power and sailboats in his free time. One of his most memorable experiences was being stuck at the end of the Androscoggin River, listening to Jimmy Buffett—an unexpected adventure that perfectly captures the unpredictable nature of boating. When it comes to customer service, Dan believes in delivering quality work that speaks for itself. His top piece of advice for boaters? "Turn on the GPS"—a simple yet crucial reminder that could save a lot of time and frustration on the water.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys driving and has a surprising background in selling Mack Trucks before transitioning to the marine industry. What he loves most about working at the boatyard is the collective knowledge of his team—each person knows a little about something, and together, they make up one complete brain. And while every season brings new challenges, spring remains his favorite time of year, when boats are prepped and ready to hit the water once again.
