Marine Learning Center
In response to a need in Southern Maine and the Greater Portland area to provide a centralized setting for marine training resources, Portland Yacht Services is proud to announce the establishment of the Marine Learning Center (MLC). Started in March, 2008, MLC is offering Coast Guard Licensing Courses, from Launch Drivers Licenses through 200-Ton Captains Licenses, boat safety courses, and more.

Get Your Captains License! Get paid for getting out on the water. The Marine Learning Center at Portland Yacht Services in Portland, Maine is offering a Coast Guard Approved 100 Ton Captains License Course beginning April 10, 2012. The Class runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-9 and Saturdays from 8:30-4:30 for five weeks. Start doing what you love!

FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit Exam
The FCC MROP is required on all inspected passenger vessels. Charter companies: Make sure your Captain's are legal. Captain's, make sure you are FULLY licensed. The exam only is $75.00. The study guide is an additional $50, highly recommended and must be ordered in advance.

Introduction to Coastal Navigation 12 hour class
Suitable for beginers as well as intermediate navigators looking for a refresher. This course is designed to give the skills needed to safely navigate a boat on coastal routes using both electronic (GPS/RADAR) and traditional methods.

Learn from the best! Our experienced outboard techs go over the inner workings of an outboard engine. Topics included will be basic trouble shooting, routine maintnance, winterization and commissioning.
