Jan 2, 2006
Mak, and Corrie, I hope that you read this e-mail address. I hope
that 2006 will be a big year for you both. Hopefully Mak will shine
at PWC and Corrie will strike it big in the real estate business.
I'm alone on the boat watching the water maker fill the tanks.
Yesterday we picked up Elizabeth's friends at the Airport in St
Martin and because customs was closed moved the boat up the coast
a couple of miles... This morning I took the bus back into Marigot
to clear for St Barts Low and behold Immigration didn't have their
stamp. SOOOO they wouldn't issue Clearances. The complete explanation
was delivered with a shrug "We have no stamp." It begged
the question of why they had no stamp or when exactly did they plan
to get a stamp. They turned off their ears to my questions and simply
repeated what by now was a recognizable mantra. It became clear
that the proper etiquette on my pat was to say off handedly "Of
course, I understand completely" while trying to smile and
not telegraph my black thoughts.
Any how so here we are cooling our heels at Tintamarrie Island
for the second visit. The ladies found a "mud bath" and
are ashore presumably making the best of it. We'll make the 6 mile
trip back to Marigot and try to clear out tomorrow am. This will
give us half of the 3rd in St Barts and half the 4th before we have
to get Eric and Alex to the ST Martin airport on the 5th. This is
where we begin to feel like a yoyo. As soon as we get them on the
plan we will beet feet back to Antigua arrive on the 6th and depart
on the 7th for Maine. I am starting to look at the New England weather.
As advertised we didn't put on a lot of miles this vacation and
so we aren't feeling beaten up too much. The wind is a steady 22
knots so we have the 2nd reef in and it is pretty bumpy going to
weather. Alex has been green a couple of times and Allia, Elizabeth's
friend, was ill during the beat up here this morning. I'm going
to miss Eric on the trip to Antigua.
Well, well be seeing you guys pretty soon.
Love Dad
