Mock-Up
[top]

Even the best designer can overlook things. We hope to minimize problems by making a mockup of the interior of the Whelp out of cheep plywood and foam. Areas that are "tight" will become readily apparent. We even found the actual size/dimensions of all of the interior components (speakers, A/C module, watermaker, etc.), made them out of foam, and placed them inside to make sure they would actually fit.

Phin Sprague, Jr. --

"Elsewhere on the boat the Caprails are being installed. The Bottom is being faired and is scheduled to be painted the week of June 16th. The engine box is being completed. The doors, door frames, cabinet doors and frames are getting the second to last coat of varnish. The booms are being painted. The dolphin striker and whisker stay spreaders are almost finished. The boom gallows is being designed. The travelers are about to be started, the turnbuckles and stanchions have arrived. The computer is being built. The electrical panels are being built. The blocks are being built. The corian counters are scheduled for delivery next week. The shower pans are ready for gelcoating. We have extended the boat ramp in preparation for launching. "

Nav station first fitting. Peter has roughed out the nav station and now it is being fitted to make sure that all of the issues are addressed.

Interior Design Details

Steve is attaching the Celutex insulation foam to the stainless refrigeration boxes, This foam is more efficient than other foams but has the unfortunate propensity to absorb moisture. It therefor has to be carefully encapsulated in aluminum foil and later epoxy to keep the moist air away from it.

This is the form for the Ice Box lid.
This is the bulkhead aft of the galley Settee separating the quarter berth from the work space. We are beginning to apply the paneling . the grounding strap for the single side band a 3 ich copper ribbon will travel under the white panels.
This is the aft quarterberth for the captain or whomever is on call for ondeck emergencies. It's on the port side, aft of the nav and galley table. Speaking of the galley, these are a few of the hardware parts for the sink system sitting on top of the corian countertop.
