The Lyon's Whelp In 1629, Ralph Sprague emmigrated to the
New World aboard a ship named the "Lyon's Whelp". This man and
this vessel have become ledgendary to the Sprague family, representing
much of what we are and who we would like to be. Most of what we know
about these two icons is word of mouth with not enough physical proof.
I hope to make this part of the site a depository of all the information
available on the Whelp, for my family and for anyone interested. Where did the name "Lyon's Whelp" come from? Partial report of the crossing Collected History of Ten 1628 Whelp's. Short article about possible history of the whelp, re-posted here. Was the Whelp purchased by the Salem Company? |
